Yangshou, China (9020 miles)

The draw to Yangshou in the south China is the karst mountains.

Yangshou is surrounded by these tiny mountains. It is beautiful. The weather is working against us a bit. It is drizzling, but we were able to get out and about on a tandem bike.

Yangshou is a small shopping town and is easy to master. We have met and are now being harassed by several local merchants. You can buy just about anything here. A man followed us with a turtle for several minutes today because we mistakenly admired it. What he thought we would do with a turtle I have no idea!

Yangshou puts on a spectacular light show. The cast is made up of 600 people, mostly local fisherman. The production was directed by Zhang Yimou. He directed the Olympic opening ceremonies as well as several movies. The production was breathtaking if for just its size. We're guessing the cast is larger than the audience. The landscape is so beautiful and the production so dramatic it is easy to forget you are really in this beautiful place.
